The JioCinema OTT coverage of IPL 2023 is a genuine reprieve in that you have some exciting sports action from India and really fun commentary options starting at 6:30 pm every day (2:30 pm on weekends). In fact, Bhojpuri and Punjabi commentary are a real hit this season.

There are other feeds that talk of the match while it is happening from one of the two teams’ fan perspective, a hangout feed where they sit on the sofa before the match and discuss the events in a spontaneous, living room fashion. Then there are different camera viewpoints, you can watch the match from the perspective of the batsman, the bowler, or from a side crowd point. All these options are available at all times, simultaneously, for each match of the IPL over the course of almost two months.

Jio is also offering IPL content free this year in a possible attempt to leverage revenue later as it did with its internet plans.

There are a few streaming issues, however, with respect to freezing and slowness of the content.

JioCinema still has miles to go with respect to streaming technology if it has to compete with the likes of Hotstar, Netflix, and PrimeVideo.
