How More Endearing Can Some of These Tennis Stars Be?

I have always associated professional tennis players with perfect hand movement, good looks, manners, and impeccable speech, especially after a victory.

In the ongoing United Cup tournament (male and female country competition), some of the best tennis stars are competing Down Under as we count the days to the Australian Open in Melbourne. Not only is the timing of the competition perfect from a preparation standpoint, but the tourney has also been organized well enough in terms of facilities and big crowds for the top players.

Although the event is not being broadcast on any of the major OTT providers in India, a TennisTV subscription allows the matches to be viewed via a mobile app or on a laptop.

The way they broadcast some of these big tournaments is also a standard in the TV industry and I have for once never regretted buying the right to watch these ATP events held across the world.

Looking ahead to the Australian Open, I am optimistic that Novak Djokovic can win the tournament to get his 22nd Grand Slam title this year. A quick reminder of last year: Djokovic was barred from playing and entering Australian territory after landing at the Melbourne airport in a public fiasco over his vaccination status. Rafael Nadal then won his 21st major singles title in epic fashion, coming back from two sets to love down against a then-dominating Daniil Medvedev.

Nadal perhaps bounced off this unexpected inspiration to scalp another Grand Slam title at his favorite Roland Garros turf, where he thrashed Djokovic in the final.

Roger Federer also retired this year in emotional moments for world tennis as he was carried atop shoulders by some of the world’s top players taking part in the Laver Cup competition, including both Djokovic and Nadal.

It’s all shaping up pretty well for another grand season! But let’s not be too optimistic considering how much I’ve missed this in the past few years due to COVID-19.

See you on the other side. Happy New Year 2023.
