The Best In Tennis Is Behind Us, Is It A Good Thing?

There are ways to summarize why Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal represent perfection. While Djokovic has an all-round game that surpasses everyone, Federer had the best and most stylish skill set. Nadal’s grit and perseverance are good enough to make anyone tumble only with a slight lapse in concentration.

There is now enough to celebrate men’s tennis in the last 20 years. My feelings culminated after Djokovic cried his heart out on winning the 2023 Australian Open title, in a land where he was discriminated against in one of the worst possible ways. Federer has won 20, Nadal 22, and Djokovic has scalped 22 singles Grand Slams. These are near-impossible numbers and anyone who knows tennis will know what I’m talking about.

It makes me sad to think that some of the best tennis is now behind us. Don’t get me wrong, the future generation might even have better skills than the Big Three but what they definitely lack is the same burning, loveable heart, which makes for captivating showmanship.

When the best is behind us, we can either celebrate and cherish the happy memories, or be left wanting, crying in despair. Who knows? There could be more history in store for us.
